Our writers will create an original "What Are The Causes Of Youth Violance?" essay for you Create order Bullying. When you think of bullying, you usually come up with things like spreading rumors, teasing, attacking someone verbally/physically. Simple things like that can really hurt someone overtime. Settle arguments with words not fists. Yes, words can hurt, but trust me, fists also hurt. You can seriously injured if you pick a fight with someone. Its not worth getting hurt, especially if its over something stupid. Bullying can result in physical injury, social and emotional distress, and even death. Not to mention, bullying one kid can put many kids in danger. Harassment and bullying are linked to 75 percent of school-shootings. Cyber bullying is another very serious issue that need to be addressed. Kids cut themselves, and even commit suicide deuce to cyberbullies. Its sad that kids in this generation actually sit behind a screen and tell other kids to kill themselves. Just because you dont feel loved or cared about doesnt mean you should take it out on an innocent child. There is someone one pit there who can help you. Bullying other people may feel good, but in the end, that child could take their life because of what you said. Bullying is never the answer. Take a stand against violence. Self-harm is another kind of violence, which kids inflict on themselves. Here are some warning signs of potential self harm: Sudden increase in moodiness, Poor control over behavior, Impulsive, aggressive behavior, Getting into trouble with authority figures, Perfectionism, Hinting at not being around in the future or saying good-bye, and Feeling like a burden to others. Its important to identify these signs early. WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT VIOLENCE? Self-Harm is a serious thing and is not to be taken as a joke. If a friend tells you that they have been harming themselves, talk to an counselor or parents about and see what you can do to help or comfort them. Having easy access to guns can take bullying to a whole other level. Once someone, especially a child, has a gun within reach, the results can be unpredictable and chaotic. That child might take the lives of other child because that child may feel insecure or not loved. It is very important the guns are not within the reach or view of any child. Gun-related suicides and accidental shootings also remain high in many parts of the United States. When a friend or someone at your school is getting bullied, you should also take it seriously because you never know if the bullying could escalate to a point where they might harm themselves or commit suicide. You should do everything you can to help them stand up for themselves. HOW HAS VIOLENCE AFFECTED MY LIFE? Like most kids, I have been bullied before. I have experienced bullying first-hand. This girl told lies, called me names, made people hate me, and other messed up things. The worst part of it was that she acted like it never happened. She the most innocent angel, I was the bad guy.   This really annoyed me and I was sick of her antics. One day I told her, I dont want to be your friend., she told the teacher thats I was being rude or something, I cant quite remember as I was in 2nd grade at the time. I told the teacher what she was doing . . . And nothing changed.   2 years later, 4th grade, she crossed the line. We were making posters for a Girl Scout activity. Before our meeting started, all the other moms except mine talked to us about, some kids arguing and how we should RESPECT each other OPINIONS.. I was a bit confused but we moved on with the meeting. At that time, or principal had removed art from our fine art schedule, and thats what me and the girl were talking about. She had forced me to work on a poster with her. Eventually, we came to a point in the conversation where I said   dont really like drama. The girl was obsessed with plays, acting, and drama. Me on the other hand, didnt really enjoy those things. The girl gets up and walks over to one of the moms. My mom was outside with another mom working on a bultien board. The girl tells the mom, Arianna was disrespecting my opinion.. That mom proceeds to get up and yell at me. This is not the first time youve done this. Apologize. I said sorry, and she continues to yell, Say it like you mean it. I cant remember wether I said it again or not. I felt like crying. When the meeting was over I got in the car and cried. If you ask me, it seemed like it was all set up. Every mom except mine knew about The Talk we were going to have before this meeting. My mom was coincidentally outside the room when it happened. None of the other moms in the room did anything when it happened. CONCLUSION As you can see, violence is everywhere and is happening constantly. About 47 teens are bullied every five minuets. Every 30 minuets, a teen tries to commit suicide due to bullying. Simple things such as talking to that one girl who sits alone or helping a friend out, can make a difference. As I stated before, you should always take violence seriously. Take a stand against violence. Dont stand BY, stand UP to bullying.

The Culture At Lincoln Electric Company - 1120 Words

The culture at the Lincoln Electric Company would be described as a strong one. A company culture can be strong or weak influence on the employees of a work place. A company culture can also be a positive or a negative aspect to a company’s bottom line. For example: it would be possible for a company to have a weak culture in management, but lucky with employees who are hardworking and need little direction. This is not the case at Lincoln Electric but I used it as an illustration. In the eyes of the employees interviewed in the case study it seems the strong influence of culture is a positive one in their lives, and is achieving what the company has set out to do. The continuing influence of the founders of Lincoln Electric can be seen†¦show more content†¦The atmosphere directly controls in part the behavior of the employee. The culture that has been created and cultivated at Lincoln Electric is very intentional. There are a variety of different company profiles that can be created. To use the language from our text book in my opinion this company profile has characteristics from two of the possible seven profiles from the text. Stable culture. Stable culture is described as a company culture that is not quick to change with the times and trends of every day, it has a centralized management system. Stable cultures can be desirable when a winning business model is chosen early on in the game. Investors seem to like them, in that they can often predict how the company will react to changes in the marketplace. Stable culture is only in part true, one of the main characteristics that is missing is large bureaucratic departments within Li ncoln Electric. Outcome orientated cultures can be defined as places that push hard to see results. People are looking for results from managers and employees. There are usually objectives posted at outcome orientated work environments, these objectives can be in the form of positive sales numbers or in the amount of products that a place can produce. Both sales and manufacturing numbers at Lincoln Electric are posted and evaluated. It is part of the companies’ bonus policy to offer something at the end of the year when these goals are met. It is also unfortunately part

The world Trade Organization (WTO) Free Essays

Introduction WTO and Trade Libralization: â€Å"The world Trade Organization (WTO), is the only global international organization monitoring and controlling the rules of trade between nations. It was formed in 1995 with the General Agreement of Trade and Traiffs (GATT) as its basis.† (Paul and Aserkar, 2010:1) The Doha Development Agenda: The fourth ministerial conference in Doha, in its November 2001 declaration, highlights the directives of negotiations around 21 subjects and the problems faced in their execution. We will write a custom essay sample on The world Trade Organization (WTO) or any similar topic only for you Order Now The declarations support the WTO agreement objectives in order to amend the restrictions and biases in the world agriculture markets. (http://www.wto.org/english/tratop_e/dda_e/dohaexplained_e.htm#subsidies) The member countries are entitled to focus on the following facts: Access to Market Subsidies on Export Reduction in domestic support. For developing countries like Africa and Latin America, the Doha Declaration provides a differential treatment during the negotiations with some special provisions to monitor if the countries meet with the basic needs like food security and overall development. Competitive Environment: â€Å"No prohibitions or restrictions other than duties and taxes whether made effective through quotas, import or export licences or other measures, shall be instituted or maintained by any contracting country on the importation of any product of any other member country.† (GATT 1947) According to the original GATT, introduction of non-tariff barriers such as subsides and import quotas, creates an unfair environment, highly distorting the agricultural trade especially with the use of export subsidies. (http://www.wto.org/english/tratop_e/dda_e/dohaexplained_e.htm#subsidies) The Multilateral Agreement in the agriculture sector produced in the Uruguay Round laid the foundation to a fair competition with minimum distortions, through constant restructuring in the negotiations. (http://www.wto.org/english/tratop_e/agric_e/agric_e.htm) Africa and Latin America have predominantly large population especially in the rural areas, wherein the prime focus of these groups is agriculture. As per the FAO 2000 reports, agriculture occupies 50 percent and 20 percent of the total employment in the African and Latin American countries. (Morrison and Sarris, 2007: 340) The European Union and The United States trade polices play a major role in promoting the overall progress of the developing nations by providing adequate support in accordance to the WTO agreements. No doubt that, agricultural products occupy a major share in exports of the developing countries. The United States and European Union impose higher controls on the agricultural exports of these developing nations by excising or imposing subsidies. However it would be quite unfair on their part, just to focus on either Africa or Latin America or only on the agricultural products and no other major industries or sectors. Moreover they are not legally obliged to focus on the concerns of other countries for their own benefits. In this competitive world, the big players should promote equal opportunities for all the countries, especially the developing ones. The core sectors need to be classified and equally promoted for a balanced overall growth. As in most developing countries, the rules and procedures of the multilateral trading system are regarded as unfair by the developing countries. They view the rules and procedures as favouring the developed countries. For example, although the WTO is supposed to be a member-driven organization, important issues and decisions are taken in â€Å"Green Room† meetings and African countries do not have proportionate and adequate representation at these meetings. In addition, because of their relatively low bargaining power, countries in the region have difficulties setting and influencing the agenda and pace of negotiations. The lop-sided power structure of the multilateral trading system is evident in the fact that developed countries managed to get the Singapore Issues on the agenda of the Doha Work Programme at the WTO Ministerial Conference in Doha despite mounting opposition from developing countries, who comprise more than two-thirds of the membership of the WTO. The Singapor e Issues contributed to the failure of the 2003 WTO Ministerial Conference in Cancun and three of the four issues were eventually taken out of the Doha Agenda. (Morrison and Sarris, 2007: 344-345) To stabilize farmers’ incomes and preserve a practical, diverse agricultural system is by combining the supply management and the price supports. In order to be effective, The United States and European Union should impose superior tariff controls along with the price supports on the imported farm goods. However such a policy prescription, of course, runs completely counter to the entire neoliberal thrust of the last twenty-five years, and would effectively remove US farm policy from the regulatory jurisdiction of the WTO, signalling the end of the WTO’s Agreement on Agriculture. Proposal on the Disposal of Old Computers by Recycling free essay sample

Imagining if we have 500 computers to dispose of, including its monitors attached to it, we are leaving approximately 3,000 lbs. of lead in the ground contaminating our environment if we do not recycle them properly. First step is the creation of a Disposal Team consisting of at least three IT personnel of our company and be responsible in the proper disposal of all the old machines by forwarding it to a third-party recycling organization. The team shall first take inventory not only the computers but also the monitors attached, non-working printers, fax machines, and copiers. Everything should be accounted for and make sure nothing will be just sitting around or just piling up somewhere in the workplace and suggest that this assessment must be done regularly. The team will also be responsible in reformatting and removing the hard drives using applicable security software in cleaning all the information of the hard drives to prevent from other people from recovering any vital or sensitive information it may hold. We will write a custom essay sample on Proposal on the Disposal of Old Computers by Recycling or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page It is also important to remove all company control tags to avoid identification to which company it came from. In the selection of the right recycling company, the disposal team shall make a thorough research and make recommendations for me as to the name of the company and why they had chosen such company. My primary requirement is that the company should not only be reputable but also certified, and a participant of the EPAs Sustainable Materials Management (SMM) Electronics Challenge program. The Challenge has three main goals, namely: 1. Ensure responsible recycling through the use of third-party certified recyclers, 2. Increase transparency and accountability through public posting of electronics collection and recycling data, and 3. Encourage outstanding performance through awards and recognition (EPA. gov, 2012, Electronics Challenge, p. 2). Participants under this program responsibly manage used electronics collected by maximizing recycling and possible reuse, minimize damage to humans and the environment and proper destruction of sensitive information on all recycled machines. Reputable recycling companies must provide written documentation of the disposal procedures, they should tell us where did the hard drive sent or how did they destroy it. We do not want the old machines to be sent to third-world countries dumping ground where it will harm their own people due to its hazardous waste. The company should state it clear how they handle data destruction. If they cannot provide such documentation then it is not a reputable one. Finally, the recycling company must submit to our company a report or written documentation on the procedure on how it handled its machine disposal with record of serial numbers, type of machine, description, and date of disposal. Recommendation In addition to the new recycling program being adopted in our company, I am also suggesting leasing of computers instead of buying them. Leasing in the financial aspect may save the company money by not spending too much on computers upfront. Usually, lease runs for about three years almost the same time as new technology has just set in. The companys computer then will always have the latest technology and even the latest operating system. The company will also be entitled for purchase credits from the vendor upon return of older units when lease is up and upgrade for newer ones. In that way our company will not assume ownership of the machines and the vendor itself will be the one responsible in recycling it, less burden, and lesser tasks from our IT department.
